The temperature can be increased or decreased using the controls. We recommend the following temperature settings:
- 120 C to 140 C: Fine, brittle, dyed, bleached hair
- 160 C to 180 C: Normal hair
- 200 C to 220 C: Thick and resistant hair
The HS 50 has a feature which allows you to lock your preferred temperature in, so that you get perfect, personalised styling for your hair.
The temperature will remain unchanged, and the device cannot be switched off until the temperature lock function has been deactivated.

How can you get the most out of your HS 50 Hair Straightener?
- Dry your hair before you start
The hair should be thoroughly dry and free from styling products before using the straightener.
The exception is products designed specifically to aid in straightening the hair.
The device will not function properly if used on damp or wet hair.
Wet/damp hair will lead to the temperature on the device dropping too low for proper functioning and straightening correctly.
- Style 3-4 cm wide sections at a time
For best results it is recommended that sections of 3-4cm are styled at a time.
- Temperature lock function
Please note: The device has a function which allows you to lock the temperature setting at a specific point to allow personalised straightening preferences.
The straightener will not switch off unless this function has been deactivated.
If you seem unable to switch off your device, please check that you have not activated the temperature lock function.
The temperature can be fixed by pressing the “-“ button (button for decreasing temperature) for 3 seconds. The button lock /keylock symbol appears in the LED display
To cancel the temperature lock/button lock, press the “-“ button (button for decreasing temperature) for 3 seconds.. The button lock/keylock symbol goes off in the LED display.
After use, the hair straightener can only be switched off when the button lock is deactivated.
To switch off the hair straightener, press and hold the ON/OFF switch for three seconds until “OFF” appears in the LED display of the hair straightener.
- Automatic safety switch-off
Please note: The straightener has a built-in timer which switches the device off after 30 minutes to prevent over-heating.
After approximately 25 minutes, the three bars in the LED display 2 start to flash simultaneously to remind you about the automatic switch-off. If you want to use the hair straighteners for longer than 30 minutes, switch the device off and then immediately on again. The safety switch-off function is then reset to activate again in 30 minutes.
